I love you

To God, I love you.
To my parents, I love you.
To my siblings, I love you.
To my husband, I love you.
To my children, I love you.
To my parents in law, I love you.
To my siblings in law, I love you.
To my friends, I love you.
To myself, I love you.

Finally…

No, not yet. The bun is still in the oven.

Hubby brought me to hospital for my fortnightly checkup this morning. Everything is good. On the ultrasound monitor, my placenta has shown evidence of ripening. Baby has reached the glamourous 2.6kgs and the amniotic liquor is still a little too much but it’s of no worries as advised by my gynae. She even told me if my baby is going to make his way out now there’s nothing to be worried about as the lungs themselves have reached maturity and are ready for the real world. But since i’ve chosen Caesarean, it’s good if baby stay intact and grow a little bigger so that he is easier to be taken care of after he is out. I am all very very relieved. Thank God we are in good hands.

I’m counting down the weeks already! Things are getting excited and anxious at the same time, being mommy for the second time round.

Frankly, things are easier and there are not many preparations to do really. I don’t buy any newborn clothes except some mittens, booties and the hats to replace the old ones, which frequent washes deteriorated the quality of them. In the next few weeks, I’ll get hubby to take out the newborn clothes to wear during the first month (mom in law insists that some clothes to be worn during the first month and wear new clothes after the baby celebrates the full moon). The other day, she bought a few set of new clothes for baby 2. There’s really not much spending for second time round and even less the third or fourth time (i think). When time gets closer, I’ll buy some new milk bottles, teats and pacifiers and the second time dad needs to change Chloe from sleeping in cot to a small bed for toddler and baby 2 will take over the cot. ( I TOTALLY HAVE NO IDEA IF CHLOE AGREES TO THE IDEA!)

So how’s the heavily pregnant mom doing so far? With only 9 weeks to go, the belly gets heavy and heavier by days. Initially I thought I’ll be having swollen elephant legs due to serious water retention (which I’ve experienced it in last pregnancy) but not really for this time. I’m still a jolly happy pregger who can still slip the legs into pre-pregnant flats! Now I understand each pregnancy experience will not be the same. There are some differences if I am to compare with past experience.

Baby 1: Total weight gain throughout the pregnancy is 25kgs!
Baby 2: Weight gain up to week 28th is 9kgs!!! *imagine*

Baby 1: Baby moves the most during night time, sleeping time that is.
Baby 2: Baby moves ALL THE TIME regardless of day or night.

Baby 1: My belly is really high up and round when I had Chloe.
Baby 2: Belly is narrow, ‘sharp’ and heavier than previous experience.

Baby 1: Water retention started in 6th month of pregnancy and gotten so serious that doctor and nurses gave me that fearful look when I delivered.
Baby 2: Water retention symptom has started slightly at the end of week 28.

Baby 1: Time ticked by soooooo slowwwwwwww and I thought I had waited for 10 years, not months.
Baby 2: WHAT!? I can’t believe I’m in 29th week already! What have I done in past months?

Oh no….I can’t imagine how’s my labor going to look like this time round!!!

Storm!

As you can see, the weather nowadays is being weird. When you expect rain, it turns out to be so hot. When you expect it to be sizzling hot, it turns out to be pouring so badly that places get flooded!

On 22nd March 2010, my hometown Perth was hit by a scary, stormy weather accompanied with hail storms, huge thunderstorms and lightnings flashing all across the skies. A Western Power’s sub-station in north Perth was struck by lightning and 16,000 of its customers were affected. That covers a lot of suburbs all over the north and south of the river. The whole thing was very frightening and disheartening, hearing that a lot of cars’ windscreens were broken due to the golf ball-sized hails smashing on the screens! Perth is rarely a place to be flooded by heavy downpour because of its good draining system but a lot of places were flooded after the storm.

Thank God that the wild weather has now subsided and no one reported being hurt so far.

I’m a happy mom!

Update at 9 months old

Sleep

She sleeps much lesser during daytime. She might only need 2 rounds of half-hour naps to get her thru the day and she collapses at around 11pm (or later). End of July, we went to Singapore for a weekend and she developed this separation anxiety and what happened was she was SO distressed to go to sleep. Later, i read from BabyCentre that they react so because they fear that they might not see the close ones (aka parents) again. Poor girl! I thought it was her 5th tooth cutting thru that makes her sleepless. There’s no definite pattern of sleeping now as she can nap half and hour and wake up crying non stop (cuddles, lullabies do not work). But some nights, she can be a good sleeper.

Food

Still with Enfalac and will upgrade to EnfaPro when she reaches 1 year old on 24th Oct! Time flies!! Everyday, she will have a meal of porridge or baby cereal alternately. She loves her pork porridge the most and i must admit it smells really good~haha!

She drinks 6oz 5 hourly and 7oz for her breakfast.

Fruit wise, she loves banana puree and watermelon juice drips. I do not dare to introduce her to too much food yet as i’m fear she might not be ready for some of them and she might just refuse to drink her milk.

Weight

She weighed 10.22kgs during last clinic visit for her dose of vaccination mid of July. I didn’t measure how long she is now but she appears quite long to me. Big size and longer than baby of her age.

Fun facts:

  • She loves to smile, giggle and chuckles! Give her your funny expression and she can burst into chuckles. All too cute!!
  • She can knock two items placed in her hands now. You say Knock Knock and she’ll perform the trick. Then you compliment her for doing that and she’ll chuckle again.
  • She can clap and loves to do it. Once she hears Clap Clap from you, she immediately perform the Clap Clap action to get your attention! Compliment her and you’ll see her smiling BIG back at you
  • Still as usual, she puts basically everything into her mouth for examining.
  • Babbles A LOT! caught her a few times babbling Ma randomly.
  • Doesn’t like clothes changing time, likes to splash water in bathtub and loves to grab her bottle of shampoo.
  • Plant her butt firm while sitting, still a little balancing to do with her body.
  • Cruise like a pilot in airplane while in her walker.

Chill out..

Helen is relaxing at mani and pedi store. Almost fell asleep!

Yum yum!

This post mainly is to give credit and appreciation to my mom in law! She made the world’s most ultra yummilicious mango and orange cheese cakes ever!
