Category: Festival celebration

It’s time of the year again to recognize the effort and hard works of a mother “internationally”.

Personally, I do not think I’m qualified to celebrate this occasion myself since:
1. My girl is still too young to comprehend the meaning behind the worldly celebrated occasion;
2. I do not think being pregnant alone is qualified to celebrate mother’s day (some mothers know how to give birth but don’t know how to carry out their duties as a nurturer);
3. I think I’m still way far behind being a successful mom (as in children have grown up, been obedient and been successful in their undertakings).

After taking up the role of a newbie mom, I realize how much we as parents have to sacrifice for our children in terms of effort, time, energy and money. I can now understand and appreciate the hard works of all mothers and of course, my dearest mother. This is the true meaning and celebration of mother’s day. It’s not about having big feast or big gift or big celebration but it’s about appreciation in the heart that matters.

Mommy, Happy Mother’s Day! May God bless you abundantly with good health and a happy soul of all! Love, Helen.

P/S: My gift from Chloe on this special day are constant cheeky smiles on her face and 1.5 hours of undisturbed bliss of free-time (napping, that is).

It will never be missed out during the joyful occasion of chinese new year. Here’s my beloved pineapple tarts. NOthing beats a cup of hot tea and pineapple tarts.

Especially love the floral pattern. Spring is blossoming with LOVE ^_^

I know, the title looks a bit funny but that’s from Chinese’s tradition of the sound made from hitting the drums for the lion dance. It has been another fruitful year of 2009 and i can see how time flies when i look at myself in the mirror (wrinkles la of course..hehe)! I am getting more ‘yellow‘ hence the 黃臉婆 and i actually come to realise that i’m going to be a mother of two soon. To count my blessings from my Father God:

1. I have 2 kids before i touch down on that big 30.

2. 不愁吃不愁穿,感恩啊

3. I am married to the most decent man on Earth. Thank you for the great life time partner, Father.

4. 婆媳紛爭 never really exist between my parents in law and me, unlike what people complain the most.

5. I have my parents who love me a lot and two siblings who are great to be around with.

6. Now, i have my own 小康之家.

7. Most importantly, I know very well God is with me, answering my every prayer and leading me and my family all the way, every day, throughout the years.

New year is always a time to count your blessings. Have you count yours?

Hi peeps! Long time no see ya? My friends keep on asking me what am i busying with all this while. I have to hesitate for some time and let off a short sigh telling them that I’m busy with life. No doubt activities are filling into my daily schedule and i have funtastic times with baby, hubby, friends and heaps of job loads altogether. But. Sometimes it can be overwhelming too. Sometimes, i lost my pace. Some days my mind can go blank for the rest of the day. Sometimes, i just can’t get it right to balance between all the activities and people around me. It can be physically exhausted.

I hope things will be improving more when Chloe grows older. For your information, she’s already roaming around the house in her walker like a breeze. It only took her a while to master the art of pushing the walker left, right, back and forth. It’s super funny watching her scrolling herself around the house then jump up and down of excitement and throw me a wide grin randomly. She has no complain staying in the walker.

And, she has finally pick up her butt off the ground for a little while and swing back and forth due to instability she is to master yet. It’s a sense of achievement seeing her mastering all the skills gradually at her own pace. And this year’s Mother’s Day was a special one. Like I said, it is a sense of achievement and all the hard works, tears paid off.

Taking her first rusk biscuits. She likes it to bits cuz it's sweet =p

Hi People

Hi People

I didn’t realise i am married all the while! Nah~I just didn’t realise i am married for 2 years now.

I went online to search for the meanings of wedding anniversaries and it says 2nd year means – cotton? What the..? I’m not going to buy a pack of cotton sticks for him to clean his ears as an anniversary gift. He will surely think i’m out of my mind. Maybe a sweet, warm greeting to each other of “Happy Cotton Wedding Anniversary” will do? ^_^

What’s the good of being married?

- I dont have to search up and low for that someone anymore.

- Things pretty much settle down and life gets boring as time passes by.

- Save the cost of having two orders to become one. Like when you’re too full and he’s too full but just wanna munch on something, you order one and both share the cost. Efficient cost saving!

- Travel partner of course!!

- You build up a family of your own from scratch and no one prepares you for that.

- All of all, i am not alone. It gets even better now that i have another family member to be with when he’s not around.

I guess life being married is still great after all.

31ST DECEMBER 2008

Selamat Hari Raya

I’m not 100% sure how the Malay calendar works to set their New Year every year but i heard each year, their New Year will be one month earlier than that of the previous year and eventually, after 11 years, their New Year will move from December to January. They depend on the moon.

I went house-visiting of some Malay friends of my husband’s and I just got my belly so full with their finger-licking good food (most of the dishes are meat and they consist of everything except pork), kuih-muih and drinks. It’s just like how Chinese do with the house-opening during Chinese New Year celebration. Interesting. But, part of me have lost interest with these festival celebrations as i think they’re getting more and more “commercialised”. House-visitings are no more just for the relatives and friends but have extended to unknown or well-known people like those datuks, tan sris, YBs and heads of which and which companies. They’re more like to establish some sort of connections for prospective future business opportunities. Of course, not all of them are like what i’ve mentioned. It’s just part of me having that thoughts.

Nevertheless, Happy Hari Raya to the fellow Malay friends in Malaysia.
