Do you love to see a crying baby? I do. I’m actually looking forward to my baby’s cries. Only after i’ve got my hands on this amazing product, founded by Priscilla Dunstan.
When i was still heavily pregnant, another pregnant friend of mine introduced this product to me and my first thought was, “Okay, it’s just another commercialized baby product in the baby-money-making market.” Boy, I was so wrong! I read articles and books about pregnancy and handling techniques of newborn but today, things proved that those knowledge doesn’t help much in the actual hands-on practice when i have my baby girl in my hands. Things just go crazy when you can’t seem to soothe a crying baby! You end up crying together with the baby and the end result? A chaotic situation for the dad to handle. Ha ha!
I hooked up to Internet to look for what cries mean. I surfed endlessly on forums to see what others said about crying babies. Something just caught my eyes and mind. Did someone mention something ‘Dunstan’ to me before? How come it sounded so familiar? It took me a while to recall and finally, i arrived on this Dunstan baby website. This time, it doesn’t look “none of my business” anymore. I explored. I tried to buy online but hey, i have family in Australia! I ended up getting my sister to hunt it down for me and now, i’m using it and i just LOVE it! How it works u may ask..
All the accreditation to the brilliant lady, Priscilla Dunstan, to have observed, researched and researched and finally, the end product emerged as Dunstan Baby Language System. The system identifies 5 different cries commonly shared among babies and with this of course, bear in mind that every baby cries differently. The tricky part is you have to bond and tune your ears to YOUR BABY’s cries. It takes time to listen, get used to and correctly identify your baby’s cries and act on the needs. Still, i thought that was easy! ‘Neh’ means hungry, ‘Eh’ means needs to be burped, ‘Owh’ means i’m tired and need to be put to sleep, ‘Eairh’ means lower wind pain and ‘Heh’ means discomfort. I thought “Nah~i dont need the package since the 5 main cries are disclosed over Internet” but again, i was wrong. The system package contains what you need to learn and 2 DVDs of examples of crying babies and settling techniques to the situations. Such a brilliant product!!
After a week of trials and errors so far, I am excited when my baby cries. My girl “Eh” a lot, which indicates that she’s windy all the time. I need to burp her all the time and yes, she did let out BURPS! It was fun (yeah…it was fun and mind-satisfying) and i’m eager to hear her cries (to some extent). Only this morning, i woke up to her “Neh~~~ neh~~” cries, after a week of observation and ear-tunings to her cries. I was all excited and so giggly happy when i made the milk for her. I was leaping with joy (that i finally understand her cries). So far, i’ve only heard “Neh”, “Eh” and “Eairh” and the product assures me that not all babies will say all the 5 words. I just need to act on what is being said and when the cries stopped, i’m on the right track. Fun eh?
Now i know my girl is not trying to mess up my life but since birth, she is trying to ‘talk’ to me in her way. It comforts me SO MUCH i can tell you! I’m so looking forward to ‘communicate’ with her every single day. My newborn is talking to me~i’m a blessed mother!

Comment by clovie84 December 8, 2008 @ 12:26 amyeap…rate it out of 100, i would give it 100% but on my side, i’ve only practiced 60% cuz the 40% of the cries are still unidentifiable. Every baby cries differently. Most of the unidentifiable cries happened during midnite when i wake up to her hysterical cries already. Dunstanbaby only works when u can identify her cries pre-hysterical cries. Heheh.
Comment by Helen December 8, 2008 @ 4:56 pmWow.. You’re so unique. I know most of them really cannot stand baby cries.. But you are totally opposite. Love the way you think that baby cries actually a way baby communicates.
Comment by ahlost December 31, 2008 @ 2:02 pm^_^ It’s very funnie to hear baby makes different cries. Ah lost, dunstanbaby can be suitably applied on those 0-3 months babies. Once baby gets old-er, they start to make other noises (i suppose she wants to start learning to talk) and with their cries, they combine the different noises in their cries. That’s what my girl is doing now. When she wants milk now, her cry is no longer ‘neh neh neh’. And she is not even 3 mths old yet.
From now onward, it’s more of practical experience and common sense and keeping track myself of her nen nen time.
